Start in Lastingham and make your way towards the public footpath signposted just off Ings Lane. Follow the gentle woodland and quaint streams as you make your way towards the open fields that skirt round the bottom of Hagg Wood towards Birk Head and Lower Askew.
Make your way into the fields on the right as you ascend up the stunning woodland of Scarth Wood towards Hamley Hagg farm.
Walk through the farm on the public footpath and make your way onto the short stretch of road towards Hagg wood, which is signposted on the left.
Here you will turn and twist through Hagg wood, the corn fields and farmland towards the village of Spaunton. Before you enter Spauton, take the right fork off the road and descend down the muddy slope through the tip of Hagg wood into Lastingham.
Top Tips:
This is an ideal wellies or hiking boots with gators type of walk, especially in the winter.
Keep your dog on a lead on the farmland, however there are plenty of other opportunities to let your dog burn off some energy.
Watch your footing on the final descent into Lastingham as this can get very muddy and slippy in winter.
Hope you enjoy the walk! Let us know how you found it and hope you stay #troughtandabout
